I Love Watercolor

I Love
Watercolor

Painting is my passion and a necessity in life.

The musical language of watercolor is closest to my heart. I find my inspiration mostly in nature, where open sea meets the shoreline or where light dances between trees and foliage. The landscape found in faces of humans or animals fascinates me as well.

Here are some selected words
Painfully beautiful start to 2019. An acquaintance, also a good watercolor painter, who called the exhibition together with the reviewer, formulated it well: “it’s just giving up”. One does not want to mention Lars Lerins name in these contexts. Comparisons almost always carry the seed to their own destruction. But this is in the same class. The large papers glitter like steel plates and already hypnotize at a distance. It is again painfully beautiful. It’s brilliant. Poor 2019. This makes you difficult to surpass.
Michael Hancock

Nya Åland

2017 recipient of Väsby Konsthall’s Watercolor Scholarship. We think Anette Gustafsson has a clear and free watercolor technique where she uses the properties of the material in an immediate and compelling way. Her light and color treatment captivates us, as well as her ability to bring her paintings to life without overworking. A unanimous choice from this year’s jury.
Catharina Bauer, Eliana Borozanov and Torbjörn Svanström

Väsby Konsthall

Anette’s feelings overflow the paper. Inside the café are framed watercolors in hazy colors that touch me deeply…
Liz Lindvall

Ålandstidningen

Gustafsson’s paintings really give a powerful first impression with their dramatic and sometimes unexpected interpretations of light and darkness, weather and wind…
Sara Othman

Nya Åland

The atmosphere is a bit mellow, without getting sad. Rather, there is a feeling of mild reflection, to quietly get lost in nature’s shifting colors…
Margaretha Levin Blekastad

Norrtelje Tidning

Her painting scene is the archipelago: reflections in water, sky in the evening light, sailboats in quiet harbors…
